About Me

WHY ASTAÉ?

My biggest supporter, my mum, was excited with me going into finance. I was on the right track with college and then eventually uni… but during college and the pandemic, nails caught me in an absolute chokehold. I couldn’t explain it, for the first time ever I got so dedicated to something, before I even asked my mum to invest in products for me , I had watched hours of videos and read pages of information about acrylics.

Only after doing all my research did I finally go to my mum— who was fixated on me becoming a finance babe— and ask her to buy my first products. I’m not going to lie, I thought she was going to say “Absolutely not— focus on school and your goals, this is a silly phase”. But boy she surprised me, she was so supportive about it. This made me push harder, to make her proud. I sat locked in a room by myself for days, just practicing to perfect my craft, to shown her my progress, to be able to give everything and more back to her because she believed in me.

5 year later, I’m here. A successful, highly rated and dedicated nail tech, with a client base I adore, ready to give all my skills to other nail techs.

Unfortunately my mum, the kindest, pure-hearted, fun soul isn’t here to see this progress. She got taken away from me when I was 20, when I needed her the most. Being honest, after that I found it hard to find that same dedication, I had lost my biggest support and purpose. I was sad, confused, extremely effed up. I took time away from my clients to “grieve”, but I came back to work very soon. Little do they know, they genuinely helped me during the darkest time of my life. Seeing them every month reminded me why I loved it, helped me realise I had built something so much bigger than just nails.

ASTAÉ is in honour of my mum,

Because without her I wouldn’t be here, so grateful of everything. Named after her, I want her kind and soft spirit to live through this academy. I intend to give every student the support and confidence she gave me, to succeed and become this person.

Formerly known as the notorious AcrylixByA… I’m Austeja, the founder of ASTAÉ Training Academy. Just a girl who decided to pick up an acrylic brush during the pandemic. I’m a workaholic, a perfectionist, I don’t stop until I get it right. I’m obsessed with application that seems filed already, crisp shaping that cuts and nail art that wows people. And now my new added obsession? Teaching girls like me who didn’t know where to start or couldn’t seem to get it right.
